As a Prostrate Cancer “bell ringer”, I encourage others to talk to as many survivors as they can before making any decisions. What works for one may not work for others.

 For 20 years, I had a small lump on the left side of my prostrate that was looked at by Specialists and inspected annually by my Family Doctor. At my June, 2021 Medical it was determined that the lump was growing.

 The first option was to visit a Surgeon to see what the procedure would be to have my prostrate removed. That was followed by a biopsy that determined it was the left side with a 3 and a 4 in different places.

In looking for a second opinion I had an appointment at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic. It was determined that if I passed certain medical tests (heart, blood pressure, etc.) I may be a candidate for the new Brachytherapy. I agreed to get the tests and receiving the results decided to proceed with Brachytherapy!

In late July, I started hormone treatments and on October 27th the Brachytherapy which was followed by 15 radiation treatments in November and early December. The hormone treatments ended in late December.

 Obviously I was monitored every 3 months then 6 and finally yearly. Last year I was told I was no longer a patient.

I am semi retired but still active with investments and consulting and very involved with our Yorkton LIONS Club. I am also very active in fundraising.

I was born and raised in Cupar, SK. After high school I went into film and video production, media and sales. Throughout my life I have always enjoyed being involved in farming.

 I am married to Valarie for the past 57 years, the proud Dad to 5 kids and Grandpa to 13 wonderful grandkids.
